CITY OF CRUSTARA
Qualden
A mountain craft city in the lower Glazebites, where roads from mines, quarries, monasteries, passes, and highland settlements meet the Crustaran lowlands.
A City Made by the Mountains
Qualden climbs through a broad lower valley where mountain streams descend toward the plains. Ore, stone, timber, and other highland resources move down from mines, quarries, and smaller settlements, then are refined, shaped, traded, and sent onward through Crustara.
The surrounding Glazebites are not scenery added to the city. They are the reason the city exists.
Three Districts
Qualden’s compact structure reflects craft, trade, and mountain life.
Forgeward
The principal craft district, built around mountain streams and engineered channels that power smithies, foundries, stoneworks, waterwheels, and heavy workshops. The Great Forge is its defining landmark.
Stonegate
The hinge between mountain and lowland. The monumental Stone Gate controls the principal approach to the valley, while caravan yards, warehouses, inns, route offices, markets, and the nearby Passwarden Keep handle mountain traffic and trade.
High Qualden
The quieter upper district of residences, civic buildings, schools, shrines, older stone architecture, monasteries, and guest houses above the busiest workshop and trade routes.
Craft, Trade & Endurance
Forgeward’s dark stone, warm firelight, timber framing, copper fittings, waterwheels, and controlled smoke give Qualden one of Crustara’s strongest visual identities. Stonegate brings together ore, stone, timber, tools, preserved goods, monastery-made wares, and supplies moving both up and down the mountain routes.
The city’s reputation is built less on ornament than on reliability. Qualden makes things that are expected to survive hard use, hard weather, and long years.
